There is much evidence advocating the use of physical activity/exercise in the prevention and treatment of a variety of diseases and disease states. Women who reported low levels of physical activity were twice as likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than women of the same age group reporting higher levels of physical activity. Physical activity has also been found to have a protective effect from a host of cardiovascular diseases and can benefit individuals who already live with these diseases. It is evident from literature that physical activity offers a protective role in a variety of diseases, but what role physical activity can play in cancer prevention is still in the early stages of research.
