My client is having problems with her t-bands swelling up. It does not allow her to run, and it is painful to walk. I've told her to ice them down, sit in a hot tub and stretch, and she hasn't worked out for a week. Is there anything better for her to do?
A strong recommendation: Please read the article on Self Myofascial Release posted on the site (see "related articles" at right). Research has found the SMFR stretching technique applied frequently throughout the day to be the most beneficial in correcting IT band imbalances (altered length/tension relationships). However, the technique must be followed up with core - glute strengthening! Please read the article on Integrated Anatomy for the New Millennium and review the eccentric function of the glute. An understanding of the entire function of the glute will lead you to a probable cause of your client's problem. After your review, read Rodney Corn's article series on the glutes/core for a corrective strategy (in Advanced Workout). With all the information on this site, you will have a well thought out process for your client.
