I was hoping I could get some information on the supplement Ribose. I have found some information from other sources but am skeptical about the credibility of the authors. If I could get some credible information from PTontheNET.com, it would be greatly appreciated.
Ribose has many important roles in human physiology. It is a necessary substrate for synthesis of nucleotides, and it is part of the building blocks that form DNA and RNA molecules. Recently. the role that is most focused on is that Ribose is essential to regenerate ATP, the energy molecule of the body.
However, there is no research that shows Ribose improves energy production in healthy individuals. Only those individuals with impaired Ribose synthesis, such as individuals with Coronary Heart Disease, have shown benefits to taking Ribose supplements. A great deal of more research needs to be done before recommending Ribose to healthy individuals.
