Can CLA be taken in conjunction with Udo’s Choice oil? Will it enhance any fat loss benefits, or is it a waste of money?
Most of what we know about CLA comes from animal studies. There has been a great deal of hype about the fat burning and anti-cancer effects of CLA. However, until we do more studies on humans, I would take a conservative approach and avoid CLA for now.
There is no harm in taking CLA with a fish oil supplement like Udo’s Choice. My problem is that CLA is an omega-6 free fatty acid, and we know that the typical American diet contains too many omega-6 free fatty acids already. We don’t need additional sources of omega-6.
If your client wants to try CLA, then he should switch fish oil supplements to a product that contains only omega-3 free fatty acids. There is no need to take a balanced fish oil product. The fact is we need to supplement only omega-3, specifically the long-chained omega-3’s EPA and DHA.
