HiI am seeking help for a PT client of mine - I am really struggling with how to train him as I am fairly new to PT and he has had a lot of set backs...He is 36 years old, obese, type 1 diabetes, which then changed into type 2 (type 1.5), high BP, high cholesterol, smoker, arthritis in knees - is on pain killers and fish oil and may need an athroscopy, has a family history of heart disease and bowel cancer, unable to cycle on a bike due to discomfort from haemarroids and to top it off, is lazy! I have been training him inconsistently since May this year and I am really struggling to keep him motivated (and me) and to deliver appropriate exercises that he will enjoy and keep going with. I have access to all the usual gym equipment, plus boxing gear - which he likes.I have been focusing on getting his HR up as I know he doesnt do any exericse outside of our sessions. I have also been working with him on functional resistance exercises - such as MB squat presses etc.. Simple but effective movements. Am running out of approaches - I am not a psychologist and am feeling I can only do so much to help him. Oh, and I have also coached him about nutrition and have 'educated' him about portions, food choices etc..Your suggestions please!
