comment button Physical Limitations, by Liz Vallee | 06 Jul 2012

This woman has recently signed on with me for PT. She has something very wrong with the right side of her body. She is in her 40's, and very petite (maybe even a bit under weight). She had a difficult time lifting her leg off the floor (when lying), and has a difficult time reaching up with the right arm. She also has poor circulation in those right limbs and her skin is cold and reddish in colour. When she walks her right ankle wants to roll. She had recently fallen twice. She has recently realised that she cannot flex her foot at all. Whether she's standing, sitting or laying she cannot bring her toes toward her (dorsiflexion). I need to help her with this (among a bunch of other things) so that she doesn't fall anymore. Any ideas for exercises that will increase dorsiflexion for her. Remember, she can't move it ay all without assistance (she can point the toe a bit). She has been to Dr's and specialists but they don't know what's wrong and she's pretty much on her own for now.
Thanks for your help

Liz
