Andy McCann is currently in demand as an adviser, mentor and mental skills performance coach to high performing individuals from many walks of life, including some of the UK’s highest profile international sports stars and coaches.
Previously an award winning teacher of physical education, Andy has an accessible style drawing from an expertise which includes over 20 years experience of education, health, psychology and elite sports performance. In 2007, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Andy has an expertise in the development of mental toughness and performance, and helps a wide range of individuals, teams and industries achieve success. As a conference speaker, he has shared the stage with celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment, politics (including Wales’s 2 First Ministers) and members of the Royal Family.
Though a keen swimmer, rugby player and skier, Andy devoted many years developing a very successful martial arts career and has been involved in international and World Championship events as a competitor, coach and referee. Andy is also the recipient of a prestigious international sports coach award and a UK Courage Award.
An internationally published non fiction author, he was nominated for the prestigious Glen Dimplex Writers’ Award and his work was awarded Daily Mail Health Book of the Week. He has been a commissioned writer for publications as diverse as the Times Education Supplement, Fighting Fit and Fitpro magazines.
Andy works in partnership with quality performance brands Under Armour and 511 and he is regularly featured in the national press and on TV and radio. His work has been described as "cutting edge" (Daily Telegraph, 2009).
