Egoscue - Part 1: Releasing Fear, Relieving Pain
Pete Egoscue
- Introduction
- Vocation -> avocation
- Pete’s background: wounded in Marines -> musculoskeletal problems
- Solve my own problems, others start to come for help
- Healing as a hobby -> Passion -> Egoscue clinics -> the “posture people”
- We are symmetrical bi-peds with head on top – deviations lead to pain
- Allowing people to return to their original template
- Head thinks but the heart KNOWS
- The art of the Possible… “Because I know nothing, everything is possible”
- Chronic Pain = step one is to convince them that there is nothing wrong with them
- Imposing Treatment vs. Eliciting a CURE
- Feel the difference
- Fear is the underlying problem
- Dropping the WHAT to get to the WHY
- Podiatrist example
- Why is that problem there? What CAUSED that result?
- Treat the symptom -> Problem will likely return
- Treat the CAUSE -> Problem will go away for good
- Treat the WHY not the WHAT
- Biggest challenge – Getting the mind off the symptom and the story
- Letting them know that it’s not their fault
- Treating the body as a unit
- First day someone comes to the clinic they must feel better
- Changing environment vs. changing stimulus
- Evoke immediate response – put the fear down
- Ultimate outcome - not the absence of pain but the absence of the condition

Some important stuff here about the body as a unit and looking at the source of pain, not only at pain itself.
